Your Health

The primary reason we eat is for energy, but what makes food enjoyable is the taste, so when it comes to grass-fed beef, we're in luck! Not only does grass-fed beef taste better, it is also much more nutritious than grain-fed meat.

To begin, grass-fed beef has fewer calories, and less fat and cholesterol. Grass-fed beef has higher levels of vitamin E, beta carotene, vitamin C, omega-3s, and CLAs (cancer fighting fat). Cattle raised on their natural food source and allowed to gain weight at a healthy rate are almost as lean as wild game.

On the other hand, feedlot cattle are fed an unnatural diet of grain, corn, and soy to cut operation costs and promote faster weight gain (It’s like McDonald’s for cows). This destroys the nutritional value of the meat which, in turn, is detrimental to you.

At our ranch, our cows are fed 100% organic grasses and graze on our organic pastures every day from birth to market. They are never fed anything but grass... ever. Come see for yourself!

10 Benefits of Eating Grass-Fed Beef

3. Higher in vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol)
4. Higher in the B-vitamins thiamin and riboflavin
5. Higher in the minerals calcium, magnesium, and potassium
6. Higher in total omega-3s
7. A healthier ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids (1.65 vs 4.84)
8. Higher in CLA (cis-9 trans-11), a potential cancer fighter
9. Higher in vaccenic acid (which can be transformed into CLA)
10. Lower in the saturated fats linked with heart disease

Questions & Answers

What is the difference between grass-fed and grass finished beef?
Some ranchers will graze their cows on grass for the last few months of their lives while feeding them other products up until then. Grass-finished cows have been eating grass for the final stage of their lives before going to market.

Our beef is certified by the American Grass-fed Association so that we can guarantee that our cows consumed a grass-only diet from birth to market.
Why do some restaurants advertise "Grain-fed beef" if it is worse for my health?
Most people do not know the facts regarding grass-fed versus grain-fed beef. In short, these ads are taking advantage of our ignorance.
How do I know that your cows are 100% organic grass-fed?
Don't just trust us! Visit the American Grass-fed Associations's website to see us listed as a certified producer, and Oregon Tilth's website to see our organic certification listing... Or better yet, come out to the ranch and see our cattle grazing our pastures all day long.
